Pork Tacos with Colorful Cilantro Lime Slaw

You guys, I just found a way to take Taco Tuesday to a whole other level.

Three little words...

Cilantro Lime Slaw

I'm so serious, I'm probably never eating tacos without this again.

The recipe is so simple and fresh, too.

Colorful Cilantro Lime Slaw

Ingredients:

Tri color slaw (cabbage, red cabbage, carrots)

Cilantro

EVOO

Lime

Garlic

Fresh cracked pepper

Salt 

Instructions:

Chop your own cabbage and carrots or buy the pre-bagged (you do you) and

put it all in a big bowl.

Chop up fresh cilantro and be generous with it. (If you love it like me then you put a whole lot in).

Pour in 1/4 C EVOO.

Juice in 1 lime.

Mince in some garlic. (I pressed 1 clove)

Crack some fresh pepper and sprinkle some salt.

Give it all a good ol' mix up.

Refrigerate it and then put it on top of your tacos. (I think it's best with pork but chicken or beef are fine too).

Stand amazed at the fresh deliciousness that you've been missing on your tacos.

Printable Advent Calendar

Advent is upon us. The season of anticipation, of waiting, for the Hope of the world to come.

That's why I get behind Advent calendars so much. Because I think there's much to be said about really soaking in the anticipation. Counting down the days until we celebrate the day the weary world did rejoice and gets to again and again. 

I started dreaming up this design last year because I knew the boys would be at good ages to

participate. So our days alternate between a Scripture reading and a Christmas activity. 

What I love about it is that you can totally make it your own. Write down whatever traditions are important for your family!

 I had fun thinking up ideas to write down but the Scriptures are so important to me too. 

I'm thinking Grady will really be able to soak in the real meaning of Christmas this year and

that makes my heart so excited!

 Since this Advent Calendar is really for the boys, I put it right int he heart of their playroom.

Their own little tree if you will. 

String them together like a banner, washi tape them to the wall like a tree, or just keep them in a little basket at the breakfast table! Sky's the limit with these cards!

Back in Business

It's been slow going - trying to put some of my inventory back up in the shop after Vintage Lynchburg.

That is one downside to a virtual shop - taking pictures, writing descriptions and adding postings takes quite a bit of time. But the upside is that I am able to offer super cool things to you all and people worldwide.

(I was going to offer them as printables, but after some advice and consideration, I decided it would be best for me to keep them as art prints so I can ensure their quality and originality. I get them professional printed on high quality heavyweight paper and I am proud of each one I send.)

I love a good barter.Ya know, trading goods for goods.

Recently I've had a couple small businesses contact me about branding packages and we ended up doing a trade. It was a win-win.

Regeneration does exactly what their tag line says - they reclaim vintage and castoff items as relevant and trendy, they restore furniture with beautiful paint jobs and pretty details, and they repurpose items in new and fun ways (an old window as a menu planner - why not?!).

So when it came time to discuss payment for services, of course I wanted to get one of their beautiful pieces.

I told them of a specific piece of furniture I was looking for - one that I could use to display decorations but would also serve as storage to hide Grady's ever growing toy collection - and they more than delivered.

Painted a dark gray with just the right amount of distressing and the most gorgeous shelf lining job you ever did see.

Original pulls left intact but painted a stark white.

And the perfect pop of color in they toy storage area.

These girls get it.

I also had the pleasure of working on a new branding package for Funky Junk based out of Forest, VA.

Nikki does absolutely fabulous work. I mean, her pieces are so beautiful and perfectly executed.

So when she offered to trade for design work, I more than obliged.

I told her I was looking for a trunk for my house. And sent her this picture that I have had saved on my desktop as my dream trunk to find.

And man, can this girl deliver. This thing is definitely first cousins with my dream trunk.

She painted and lined the inside to make it useable for me for storage and added some rope handles since the originals were missing.

I'm borderline obsessed.
